In the world of high school sports, there's a rising star making waves in the swimming community. Meet Alyssa Ton, the Orange County girls' swimmer of the year for 2026. This talented junior from Fountain Valley High School has not only dominated the pool but has also left a lasting impression on coaches and teammates alike.

Alyssa defended her titles in the 200 and 500-yard freestyles at the CIF-SS Division 1 championships, posting the fastest times in California for both events. Her determination and skill were on full display as she touched the wall first in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.15 and claimed her second consecutive crown in the 500 free with a remarkable 4:44.26.
But Alyssa's success isn't just about individual achievements. Her versatility extends to her club training with Irvine Novaquatics, where she swims alongside talented male athletes like Andrew Maksymowski and Lucas Jue. This environment, combined with her competitive spirit, has pushed her to new heights. Alyssa's coach, Nathan Wilcox, describes her as one of the hardest workers he's ever had, with a passion for racing and a determination to always finish on top.
"I want to race the boys. I want to beat them," Alyssa said, showcasing her competitive drive. This attitude is a testament to her background in Taekwondo, where she achieved a third-degree, second-tip black belt. The confidence and aggression she gained from martial arts have undoubtedly contributed to her success in the pool.
Alyssa's journey began at age 10 when she accepted an invitation to swim with her friend Charlotte Jepsen. Little did she know then that she would become a member of the U.S. junior national team in the 200-meter freestyle and set her sights on qualifying for the Junior Pan Pacific Championships. Her dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and she is now committed to continuing her swimming career at the University of Tennessee.
